It was a hard fought match, but we came out on top!
25-22 and 26-24
Some great plays were made by Becca and Lara who had great setter and hitter communication to come through when we needed big plays.
Jordan, Wavie and Anne Marie also had great coverage of our blockers and hitters.
Rachel really stepped up as well communicating, hitting hard and blocking the other teams huge outside hitter.
We play again at 11:30 (central) and we will be back with more updates after. Yes, they are big. Yes, they are talented players. But we are going to use our defense and aggressive, smart playing to truly challenge them.
keep cheering from tally! We need your support even from far away!
GO LIONS!!!

Second Game...VICTORY! 22-25, 28-26, 25-22
We did AMAZING! That was one of the most intense games I have ever witnessed.
We played Hinsdale. And they had a beast of an outside player. She was tall, had a great swing, and she played all the way around. She was awesome. (her name was Alli, I may have had a small girl-crush on her, she was THAT good.)
Notable plays of the game:
Kills
Wavie - 11
Anne - 6
Rachel - 3
Rachel - 3
Lara - 5
Pepper - 5
Blocking
Anne - 3
Lara -1
Rebecca - 27 assists
Serving
Mary English - 3 aces
Digs
Anne Marie Chin - 20
Becca - 8
Sydney - 2
Wavie - 16
Sydney and Mary English did an amazing job coming off the bench to help lead the lions with aggressive serving and extreme focus.
The coaching staff was so proud of how well they followed the game plan, knew what to do, and played smart.
GO LIONS!
We WON! 25-22, 21-25, 25-17
We played an awesome game! And as a coaching staff we were very proud of the way they all played. We are playing again in about 30 minutes!
We will be back after that game with some stats and more updates!
Go Lions!!!

Lauren Gale, Sydney and Annie all stepped up and played big roles for us despite the crazy refs, bad calls and drama that ensued!
Day 2: GAME DAY!!
After a late night of train rides and (cab rides for a few) we let the girls sleep in. And for those of us who always wake up around 5 am...the whole sleeping in concept is sometimes hard to grasp...but we tried.
We will be having study hall from 10:30 to 12:30 (our time) and then we will head out for some lunch and a little walking around/shopping at the outlets which are right down the street (lucky us! Parents we will try to control the spending :) )
Then we plan to head back to get ready for the game by about 2. Leaving the hotel around 3:30 so we can get in some light serve-receive practice and some ball handling drills before our first match at 5.
Here is the link to the tournament schedule in case you want to check during the match :)
Also, there was a great article about our trip in the tallahassee democrat, you can read it here :)

One minor catastrophe....or two...
Catastrophe. Nothing too major...just temporarily locked out of a hotel room....and then we lost 4 players and a dad...no big deal...
We were rushed!! Running around, showering, speeding to change clothes, eat and RUN to the train. We soon realized that 4 players were locked out of their rooms? The keys don't work? we can't break in? The hotel can't fix it...and we have 28 minutes to catch a train. We had everyone showering in different rooms, borrowing clothes, grabbing shoes, finding makeup, and basically running around like a bunch of chickens with our heads cut off. Grabbing nuggets, fruit, brownies, pizza, anything we could and walking and eating, and dodging vehicles, people, and tree limbs. Mostly I was dodging those, due to my height.
After sprinting, most of us with soaking wet hair, some in each others clothes and shoes, we all made it successfully to the train...everyone but Laura J. Luckily she made it to the Union Station in time to meet us for site seeing and dinner :)
Post dinner and seeing the bean, pier, etc....we had a plan...
We had the plan to leave dinner and take taxis to the train station, that was a great plan, until we shut the doors and sent the vans, cabs, etc on their way only to arrive at the station in waves and not all be together but rather to be with a mixture of random people not knowing where to go!
When I paid for the cab I turned around and I was alone...not good. Luckily I had my phone, but I still only had about 8 minutes until the train left...
I am standing there, kinda freaking out, and I hear "HALEY!! Come this way!!" Thank goodness Jordan saved the day...
But when I got the train not everyone was there, Angie and I were running around and could not figure out where everyone was? the doors were closing and we saw down a few cars, the rest of our parents!!! OUR GROUP WAS ON THE TRAIN! YAY!
Only we soon realized that we did NOT have everyone, we were missing a few players, we looked every where and we could not find them...and what was worse was that we did not know which adult jumped in that car with them? Was there a parent? Oh man! We are all concerned....and then we realized...we were missing the Asian Man. And yes, he was with our four missing girls...Anne, Lara, Pepper and Taylor were with Owen in a cab.... but they missed the train!!!
They took a $150 cab back to Aurora. But all are safe. And Mr. Chin was not pleased that we all left him. He likes us. But he is mad at us. But the good news is, Anne taught him how to "leh go"

Attempts to scare Wavie...
So... it all started when...
The girls were telling scary stories, and Wavie talked about how scared she gets when she is alone, and how she thinks her house is haunted...so we took that as an open invitation to try to scare her...
So...the coaches plotted...and planned...and decided that Angie and I would be responsible for scaring them...we snuck into their room...hid behind the wall and curtain....the door opens....and Angie JUMPS out and they all scream! Becca, Pepper and Annie are standing in the door way...no Wavie...ultimate fail...Do not worry Wavie...your time will come...we WILL scare you...so look out...
We have arrived!!
